Using physical fitness as a punishment
Why is it the "old school" way to use running or any type of physical fitness as a way of discipline or a punishment. All that we are doing as physical educators is turning off the students to physical activity, ultimately ruining students scores in Presidential's Challenge and the Fittnessgram due to a lack of love for physical fitness. Also, it is such a disgrace and a cop-out for us as educators to tell the student's, "just go run!" On that note, it makes it super simple to be a physical educator and we do not want to be notorious for just having anyone out on the street take our job. We should correlate fitness as being fun, and do fun things such a DDR or Wii fit. We can trick the student's brains to want that feeling they get after a good workout. I feel that many physical educators are still on that mentality, and it needs to change.

Where is the Love?
Why is it that anymore on campus or around the slippery rock township borough that no one remembers to say thank you, you're welcome, or any moral or ethical presence. I leave the door open for others, and lately I do not even get the common decency to get a thank you. But why? is it because this day and age everyone is in such of a big hurry or have other things on their mind that they forget a simple task of saying thank you. I think it is despicable, and it makes you feel unappreciated especially when you're a girl, it's as if were not allowed to hold the door open for anyone. I am not sure what the problem is with the morals of this day and age but I wish many others would get back to being old fashioned and have the chivalry like others did in the past.

Elimination Games
Today in my movement education class, we learned how to play musical chairs without elimination. The twist was we used hula-hoops instead of chairs. At the beginning there was enough hula-hoops for everybody, but soon our professor took away most of the hula-hoops. The objective was that more than one student could fit in the hula-hoop at a time when the music stopped playing. However, I still felt that this game was eliminating individuals because some people were crude enough in my class to push away other students as if they were acting out as younger children, but in all reality this is how most younger aged students would act. I feel that musical chairs is not a good choice at any time, and it leads to students being sneeks and cheaters.
Heart-Rate Monitors
I cannot wait to get my heart-rate monitor today. I feel that it is an excellent idea among the physical education faculty to get the students heart-rate monitiors of our own to use for certain classes. The physical education wolrd is revolving around doing physical acitivty in their heart rate zone. I am very grateful that a piece of equipment that would cost 99.99 we only got for 40.00 saving a value of 59.99. I am very excited to learn how to use this weekend, and will use it for my personal use during track practices as well. I think it's a great thing educationally as well as just fun.

Why the wait?
Yesterday started the first track and field practice for most of us. As natural as it came some team mates and I wanted to go to weisenfluh dining hall. Little did we know was that Weisenfluh is only open for 3 hours a day. As we got into the doors we expected hundreds of students chowing down, but we were shocked to find an empty dining hall with no existence. But why? I asked. I was starving after a first days hardwork of practice and wanted to enjoy a nice meal but instead I got a stressful appetizer. Then, we were told that the only dining halls open for dinner would be rockie's or boozel dining hall. I was outradged, thinking there are so many input of students this year, how in the world is rockies and boozel going to compasitate all of the students? We decided to go to boozel, however, I was not very happy about it. There were so many people still at boozel at six o'clock in the evening. Waiting in long lines, and the clostrophobic of so many people surrounding it is a sespool for sickness and aggravation. For there being a swine flu outbreak and us being the target age for this flu, with so many students in these dining halls surrounded by finger foods and tables that i visualy seen that never got cleaned. I feel that any avaibable dining hall on campus should be open for every meal of the day, bottom line. Especially since there are a high amount of students enrolled here at Slippery Rock University.
